After troubles with locking down a field and rescheduling due to many players having holiday commitments Round 2 will be THIS SATURDAY ARIL 6th, 10:00am, at a new park in Roswell. Please be there at 9:30 to help set up the field and warm up so the games can start on time. As an after game social many players are planning on meeting up and attending the free concert held in Centenial Park as part of the Final Four Celebrations. More info here.
Located off Holcomb Bridge Rd, between Spalding Dr. & Barnwell Rd, right next to the Chatahooche Rivere, we are very hopeful this park could be a great new location for both AARFL and Kookaburras matches. Enter the park through the Johns Creek Environmental Treatment Facility parking lot. Get full directions here (map link).
The 2013 Atlanta Australian Rules Football League will commence this weekend, Saturday March 16th, at Walker Park (Map Link) just off Memorial Dr, inbetween East Atlanta Village and Little Five Points. Games start at 10:00am sharp so be there a little early to warm up and help set up. The new field location is just around the corner from our old AARFL grounds, Dekalb Memorial Park.
Even tho the start of AARFL was pushed back to next week we are still getting together for a kick. We'll be meeting at Piedmont Park at 11am on the fields just in front of Park Tavern on the corner of 10th St and Monroe Dr. Come on down to get ready for the first AARFL matches next week. We'll probably stop in at the tavern afterwards for a drink and some lunch.
For any new players or people just interested in the club this is a great opportunity to come down and say g'day and get ansers to any questions you may have. We'll be running some light drills and getting back in to the feel of playing after time off for winter. This is preperation to help be ready for the start of the AARFL season next Saturday.
It was great to get a footy back in the hands and off the boot last week. We had a pretty good turn out to the first skills day and are looking to see more players down for round 2. The weather was warmer than expected and it was good to see everyone back on the field again. For those of us who did make it down, it was a wake up call to what we are in for shortly with the start of the season. Winter lazyness has left most of us a little out of shape and running around quickly became tough.
