Kookas Elect Frost For Second Term As President

The Atlanta Kookaburras Annual General Meeting was held recently where the Executive and Board Members were elected for the 2013 business year. Michael Frost the President for 2012 was elected to continue his role in 2013.

Reports were presented to the meeting by several of the officers including a financial statement by Treasurer Carson Olsheski that showed the Kookas survived nearly solely on the income from player membership fees during the playing season.

The Kookaburras Annual meeting was conducted at the Whitehall Tavern in Buckhead and had maybe the lowest attendance seen in recent times. This lead to many of the official board positions passing without someone being elected to those positions.

Dan Searle Wins Paul Roos Medal at Nationals

Dan_Searle

Kookas player Daniel Searle has won the Paul Roos Medal for best player in Division 3 at the 2012 US Nationals.

Searle, who has played for the Kookas since 2009, has added this prestigious award to his shared 2012 AARFL Best & Fairest award that he won earlier in the year.

Daniel has shown great skills in every game he plays, whether it's lacing bullet-like passes to the forwards or soaring over packs for marks. His diminutive size belays the huge effect he on the Kookas games.

Well done Searley.

2012 Kookas vs Charleston

As Australians know, in a game of footy, there are lots of ball ups and, hopefully, not too many balls ups. Well last Saturday 20 Kookas travelled to Charleston to help the fledgling club get established in the USAFL. What they found was a small field being graded, another field that required a permit and, finally a small baseball field that we could use for a match. What they also found was the home team providing 3 players for their first inter-city match. In short, it was a colossal balls up.
