Atlanta Kookaburras recently celebrated their 2013 season with their MVP vote counting event in Midtown Atlanta. The Mike Powers Medal for the Atlanta Kookaburras MVP early looked like it was heading for an upset winner with Braden Medders surprising with solid voting in nearly all games whilst last years winner Daniel Searle struggled for votes and had also missed games. Also in the count was the 2013 big improver Scott Tuttle, wiry Mike Gross and the old timer himself, new Kookas game record holder Wayne Kraska.
But it was to be a left footers night again as Daniel Searle pulled away with a stellar performance again at the Nationals Championships where he racked up BOGs (Best of Grounds) on several voting cards throughout the weekend. This is Dan's second Mike Powers Medal win in a row after a huge win last year.
Four players battled for the runner-up spot with veteran Wayne Kraska pipping Scott Tuttle and Mike Gross and Braden Medders in a very close race.
Best First year player went to Kevin "Eddie" Hernandez and Best Clubman to the wild man Jonathon "Rosey" Rosenfield assisted by traveling back to many games and the Nationals this year from his current work location in Toledo Ohio.
The Coaches Award was awarded to Mike Gross who many times through the year was asked to fill roles that his slim build did not deserve. Most improved was an obvious choice with Scott Tuttle having a great year and displayed maturity beyond his years late Nationals picking up many kicks in the Subiaco and Revo players match at the Nationals.

The weather was looking miserable and heavy rain seemed eminent and the weak stayed home in bed. The rain held off tho and after a short delay we had a 7s game underway. Every one was happy to see the Galic Football super star James Noonan make one of his sporadic/random appearances and the Bushrangers did well to have him on their team.
Back in action we're a couple of our older master players Bret Findley and Jim Batten. Surprisingly The Flying Brick was unable to secure one of his masterful goals during the game. This was speculated to be because of the brilliant efforts of Brett Findley. A little rusty to start out, Brett proved his skills and by half time was making plays and taking shots on goal in much better form.
Things looked close at half time with the Dingoes only behind by a few goals. But once again by the end of the 4th quarter one team struggled to keep it together and ended up being thrashed. For game stats follow the link....

Another fantastic spring day for a round of local footy. Held once again at our promising new location Garrard Landing, right next to the Chattahoochee River, everyone one was eager to get on the field and have a kick. Due to numerous people being out of town traveling and others having work and family commitments numbers were down for the day.
We ended up having a 2 team scrimmage match. Captains were picked and teams were chosen old school play ground style. After a few minutes of deep consideration the teams were set and we had a match to play.
