Evans scoops a load of awards

David Evans, big, raw and willing to learn. Three talents that led him to three awards for the 2008 Kookaburras' season.

David turned up at the start of the season eager to try this new game of Australian Rules Football and he quickly developed a passion for the game. With his height and jumping ability, he was thrown immediately into the ruck and, almost immediately, became dominant in that position. He led the Midtown Bombers and the Atlanta Kookaburras to successful seasons. When you win the center bounce, it gives the team great drive out of the center and David provided his team with that drive. He has a strong marking ability and is developing his unique kicking style.

Only a late season mishap, which ended with David having a pacemaker installed in his chest, prevented him from winning the MVP award. As it is, David finished the season in second place (Award No. 1),was the club's best first year player (Award No. 2) and topped the season off by being presented with the coach's award (Award No. 3).

Here David can be seen receiving his awards from coach Jim Batten.

Not to be stopped from his new love of the game, David took up umpiring the Fall 2008 AARFL season and hopes, with doctor's permission, to start playing in the upcoming Spring AARFL season. We will see if that works out.

David, the Atlanta Kookaburras are very happy to have you as part of the club and we look forward to your involvement in the coming season.
