Two Kookas playing for USA in Australia
Tuesday, 02 August 2005

The Kookas have two of their own representing the USA in the AFL International Cup 2005 starting this week in Melbourne, Australia. Kookas Vice Captains BJ Gambaro and Ben Crist are in Melbourne with 30 other Americans playing Aussie Rules Footy against 10 other nations from around the world. The Kookas pair will commence their campaign against the South African team Wednesday afternoon Melbourne time as the US National team the "Revolution" look to improve on their 5th place in the same tournament in 2002.

BJ Gambaro was a member of that team in 2002 and both Gambaro and Crist have been training hard over the past 12 months in the lead up to the event with players in the squad coming from all over the US, some making their first trip to the land Down Under. To represent your country playing any sport is a great achievement in itself and we congratulate all players and wish them well from everyone here in Atlanta and especially from the Kookaburras team.

The final of the International Cup will be played on the hallowed turf of the Melbourne Cricket Ground one of the greatest sports stadiums in the world today on August 12th under lights prior to an AFL game of legendary rivals Collingwood and Carlton.
