The new look Atlanta Kookaburras kicked off their regular season in fine style with a emphatic 58 point win against the Baton Rouge Tigers on Saturday at Creel Park. Under the guidance of debut Coach Mike Powers the Kookaburras took control early and were never headed. Debuting also as Captain the first American ever to win the role, Ben Crist lead his team with a Best on Ground (BOG) performance from the Center. The Kookaburras had no less than six players playing their first game in the Green and Gold colors which shows the effort the club has put into recruiting during the off season and what makes the performance even more impressive was there were only two Australians under USAFL rules in the Kooka lineup The Baton Rouge team also has several new players this year and showed plenty of character in never giving in till it was all over. Afterwards everyone enjoyed the after game party at CJs Landing in Buckhead.
Final Scores Atlanta 13.13.91 d Baton Rouge 5.3.33.
