Kookas beaten by Baton Rouge for first time
Thursday, 22 June 2006

The Atlanta Kookaburras went down to "Old Louisianna" on the weekend and unfortunately suffered their first defeat at the hands of the Baton Rouge Tigers. The Kookaburras traveled with a very small team due to many players having other commitments, this meant the Kookas had to beg borrow and steal players just to take the field. This showed out in the final score but not in the players that were there desire to succeed.

For the second week in a row the Kookas battled heat and high humidity on foreign soil. Kicking with a nice breeze in the first term the Kookaburras held the lead at the first break but thats was to be the end of any joy for the visitors from Atlanta. Baton Rouge who continue to build a strong young local team based around LSU continue to improve. The team together well, are well coached and you tell they enjoy their footy. They are also great hosts providing a great after match party on the LSU campus.

The final score was Atlanta 5.6.36 defeated by Baton Rouge 15.8.98 a tough 62 point defeat for the Kookas their biggest loss of the year.
