The Atlanta Kookaburras are pleased to announce that Mike Powers will again lead the Kookaburras as Head Coach for the 2007 season. Powers coached officially for the first time in 2006 but had led many Kookaburra teams into battle when forming the club back in 1998.
Mike has already appointed two assisistants who will be new faces to the Kookaburras coaching ranks in Damien Sheehan and Ross Larossa. Sheehan is an ex AFL Port Adelaide player and was draft pick #29 by Carlton in 1993. His knowledge of the game and excellent skills have already had an impact on the club in fleeting appearances in 2006. Larossa hails from Keilor Park in Melbourne having played most of his senior footy there locally and growing up as a junior. Together with Mike Powers they will harness other resources within the Kookaburas fold to ensure the Kookaburras commence a turnaround from some previous dissapointing seasons.
The Women's Team Head Coaching role will again be held by Wayne Kraska. The women's team are trying for triple National Championship wins and another place in the history books.
The Kookaburras season kicks off with a game versus old rivals the Florida Redbacks in Atlanta on April 14th. The Kookaburras invite you to circle that date on your calendar now and watch the start of a big year for the Atlanta Kookaburras Australian Rules Football Club. |
