The Atlanta Kookaburras celebrated their most successful Saturday ever with a win over the 2006 MAAFL champions the Milwaukee Bombers and also the Lady Kookaburras easily accounted for Milwaukee Lady Bombers. In very warm conditions at Creel Park in Atlanta the Lady Kookas took the field first and showed immediately why they are the twice USAFL National Champions.
Judith Stein named Captain of the Lady Kookaburras for the 2007 season before the game came out firing in a wonderful display of Australian Rules Football kicking the entire first quarter score for the Kookas of 3 goals 2 behinds and finishing with 4 super goals for the game. Another to shine for the Lady Kookas was onballer Jennifer Sarbacker who was everywhere picking up kicks for the home team.
The Lady Kookaburras debuted 7 new players in their first ever home game a sign that the Kookas are again going to a force to be reckoned with come the Nationals in Louisville Kentucky in October.
In the men's game the Kookaburras also jumped out with all guns blazing as they defeated the National 4th ranked team the Milwaukee Bombers. Damien Sheehan was unstoppable up forward with 8 goals for the game in a Best on Ground (BOG) performance. He was ably assisted by many Kooka players but especially Ross Larossa, Ben Crist and Curtis Jones. The final score showed a 61 point win to the Kookas and all looking forward to the return games in Milwaukee on August 25th.
