Kookaburras go down in last quarter
Tuesday, 16 September 2008

The Atlanta Kookaburras could not starve off a fast finishing Nashville Kangaroos team on Saturday after leading all day. The home team Kangaroos piled on 5 goals in the last term to swamp the Kookas and win by 11 points.

The Kookaburras had lead most of the day in the very warm conditions and appeared to have the Kangaroos measure whenever they challenged however were unable to put away the Roos when needed.

Brent Kewley was a welcome return to the Kookaburras team and his tough aggression certainly helped the Kookas backline stay on top for three quarters. In the ruck both Mike Waller and Dave Evans were doing well with Ross Larosa doing everything he could roving the packs.

The loss was disappointing however there were good signs for the team with three new players playing their first games for the Kookas with Carl Morris, Sean Murray and Charlie Queen all debuting and doing very well. This week the Kookas have the Milwaukee Bombers at home for their last match before the Nationals in October.
