Kookas dominate over Nashville
Saturday, 19 April 2008

The Atlanta Kookaburras continued their unbeaten run for 2008 with an action packed 64 point win today over arch rivals the Nashville Kangaroos. The game played in perfect conditions at Creel Park in Atlanta was always going to be a hotly contested affair as there remains a long history of fierce hard fought games prior to today between these two teams.

The Kookas took control early though with superior running and great marking overhead. The Kookaburras were lining up very tall today with seven or eight players at least 6'3". This allowed the Kookas to control the game in the air and provide many opportunities for their forwards. Michael Frost played a very good game off a half forward flank kicking 3 goals for the game and Warren Ballagh must have sore hands from all the marks he took. Ross Larosa was great again and with new players like Chris Holden, Dave Evans and Mike Waller playing well there is plenty to like about the way the Kookas are playing this season.

Good return games also came from Ben Crist, Brent Kewley and Andy Ciganek who all played roles when needed in the back half. Up forward Adam Jennings had a great first half taking marks at Center Half Forward and with veteran players Brent Bacon and Wayne Kraska cleaning up, the game result seemed never in doubt. Well done Kookas, great to get one back against those guys!
