The Atlanta Australian Football League commences this week giving local Atlantans the chance to play a great, fast, physical game like no other. Games are played just out of downtown near East Atlanta and new players are welcome to come down to this weeks game starting at 10.30am and join up for one of the three local teams. No experience is necessary as coaching and guidance on the rules will be available before you play. The local league has been in operation since 2003 and is a great way to learn the game in a friendly but competitive way. No need to travel, games are played Saturday mornings at Dekalb Memorial Park in East Atlanta just off Glenwood Avenue. This week will see the opening game between reigning Premiers from Fall 2007 the Midtown Bombers and last years cellar dwellers the Roswell Rebels. The third team a newly formed union of last years Decatur and Druid Hills teams will be called the Clairmont Lounges and will debut next week. Visit the AARFL site for the full Spring 2008 schedule.
