New Player Sign Up & Recruitment Day This Saturday

The 2011 new player sign-up and recruitment day for the Atlanta Kookaburras and the Atlanta Australian Rules Football League is this Saturday February 26th. Everyone is welcome, so come on down from  2pm-6pm at Dekalb Memorial Park, Wilkinson Road, East Atlanta.

Its a chance for all new players to meet up with current team members, learn the game, kick and pass a ball and maybe even have a beer afterwards. The atmosphere is friendly, low key and fun. Aussie Rules football however is fast, exciting, skillful and high scoring. It was one of the fastest growing sports last year on ESPN3.com where elite games from the AFL. (www.afl.com.au) are telecast each week from April to September.

The Local League (AARFL- Atlanta Australian Rules Football League) currently consists of three teams, the Midtown Bombers, Western Bulldogs and the reigning champions the Roswell Rebels who were undefeated in 2010. Games are played Saturday mornings with a social event often schedule afterwards. These games start Saturday 5 March 2011. See the 2011 schedule here.

Friday nights during the warmer months Co-ed games are played which are touch games for all the family to learn and play this fast action sport in a safe environment.

Kookaburras games from June through to October are the real deal 16 a side games played on full size fields 175x130yrds and against teams from rival cities around the USA. Women also have games with the Atlanta Lady Kookaburras ranked as one of the best teams in recent years with three National Championship titles to their credit.
